Martin Luther King Day NOLA events

Date: Mon, Jan. 19, 2009

Even as we mourn another deadly weekend in New Orleans, today brings a uniquely meaningful Martin Luther King Day, on the day before we can celebrate a significant triumph toward the fulfillment of King's powerful Dream.  Let us hope an pray that the hope surrounding the election and inauguration of Barack Obama will inspire all New Orleanians, and especially our young people, to seek and achieve their positive potential in this city.

Today's events in New Orleans:

Martin Luther King Memorial Program, 9am, Louis Armstrong Park

March from Armstrong Park to the Superdome, 10am.  Please bring canned goods to donate.

In addition, there will be MLK events at most local universities throughout the day and evening.
