Sunday will mark two months since the March For Survival to City Hall, and we will take advantage of the opportunity to update everyone on our activities since that time. We will also announce several new programs and projects, including:* A new public-access TV program to feature Mayor Nagin providing regular updates on violent crime in New Orleans
* A City Walks program, designed to confirm and strengthen the bond and collaboration among neighborhoods expressed during the March For Survival
* The Dinerral Shavers Educational Fund, established to serve the spirit, family, and public works of musician Dinerral Shavers
* Our new SilenceIsViolence website, including a page of dedication to the victims of violent crime in our city
* A police meet-and-greet series to begin in late March
We also will have information available regarding progress on our court-watching program, our Fifth District police interaction efforts, and our Youth Music Clinics and programs in the schools.
If you are unable to attend Sunday's benefit, please consider making a donation to help sustain these programs. You can use the Paypal button on our website, www.silenceisviolence.org, or send a check (made out to SilenceIsViolence) to: SilenceIsViolence, 2700 Chartres St., New Orleans LA 70117. And for those of you who miss Sunday's announcements, we will catch you up on all the news in next week's email update!
We look forward to seeing many of you again this Sunday, and to furthering the work we all must do together
