Where do I began? My beloved cherished baby son Matthew Whittington had just turned 16 years old. On the edge of adulthood with his whole life to look forward to. Matthew had plans for his future and looked forward to pursuing a career in Aeronautical Engineering. On March 14, 2007 Matthew Whittington was somehow taken from our home in the wee hours of the morning by a longtime childhood neighbor who had gained access to the families arsenal of unsecured guns. This longtime childhood neighbor almost 16 years old shot to death both his biological parents with their own 9 mili meter glock gun at point blank range. His rampage was not over! Our precious son Matthew suffering a broken knee cap only able to walk with the aid of a wired knee brace and crutches scheduled for surgery in days was taken to our longtime neighbors home located just behind our home out my back door. Matthew Whittington was taken over to our neighbors home where he saw Mr. John & Mrs. Jeri shot to death. Then the terror, horror and betrayal of a childhood friend shooting at you as you desperately try to escape the horror. Matthew Whittington was unable to escape. All we have been told is inmate #536827 confessed to shooting both his parents and our forever cherished Blessing from Almighty God baby son Matthew. As Matthews mother I would have laid down my life for my precious son. connor wood has been tried as an adult and is serving life in prison, no probation, no parole at hardlabor in solitary confinement for it's safety and security. I don't look out my back door without reliving what my beloved Matthew endured at the hands of what can only be described as pure evil. Our entire family is completely devestated. No drugs or alcohol were used in this egregious, heidous, violent senseless murderous rampage. Only an arsenal of guns left unsecured where a young adult gained access to them contributed to this senseless murderous rampage where a young adult claimed he never got to do anything and he wanted to do what he wanted to do when he wanted to do it.
