Bereaved Sister
Date: Thu, Dec. 18, 2008
Hello Silence is Violence Representatives, I am Natasha Lewis and I writing to you out of desparation, sadness and disappointment. My only brother was viciously murdered on August 13, 2007, in the Treme area after competing in an established basketball league. I put my faith in the Police Department to lead in settling my brother's murder case. To this day, nothing much has changed, in spite of being given the alleged suspects' names and other important leads. I spent a year working with the Lead Detective, who seem to write the case off rather quickly, did not follow all leads and just kinda stop taking my calls. Now, I find myself in the postion of waiting for just one ColdCase Homicide Detective to return my calls after a month of weekly check-ins. There are so many details to the case, but right now, we need someone to care. We want justice and we need to know why this happened. I can not afford another three months of insomnia, stress and worry. We certainly can't bring him back by continuously bringing this case to light, but we don't want the works or death of a good man to go unnoticed. We are living in a society that is teaching our children to solve everyday life issues, by getting the ultimate revenge, taking someone's life. Something is desparately wrong with this way of thinking. Please excuse the long banter, but I have so much to say; we welcome your assistance. Thanks in advance and I anticipate hearing from you.
