Music Clinics

Youth Music Clinics invite youth of all ages to spend an evening in a nurturing, non-violent environment as they learn about music. Clinics, which are led by music director Shamarr Allen (www.shamarrallen.com), consist of an instruction period, a dinner break, and an informal jam session. Young musicians learn basic techniques on a range of instruments—trumpet, drums, saxophone, trombone, clarinet, guitar and violin, among others—and get the chance to explore the world of music and meet some of the city’s great musicians. The music clinics offer young people a positive after-school activity and are offered at no cost to the participants. Family members and friends of the young musicians are encouraged to attend, as we strive at building a positive community to envelope the students’ musical experience.
